As Rourke and I continue to lay low and only allow ourselves two sheets of t.p. at a time, we are surprisingly finding comforts and joys in all of this.
How, you ask?
Well, first of all, we are home together, enjoying sleeping in and snuggling. Treasuring our walks outside in this beautiful springtime weather. Sitting on the patio, watching and listening to the birds. Cleaning out the garage, finally! Catching up on our favorite Netflix shows. Cooking and eating together. Just to name a few. I could go on and on.
(Nola is living the perfect dog’s life, by the way, getting lots of walks and red-ball-throwing!)
As we continue to watch the news, we are reminded of the resiliency and strength of this country. We are constantly seeing people, communities, companies, and businesses working together to see our country through this crisis.
We are also reminded that we have made it through tough times like this before, coming out stronger and better!
Remember, 911? Remember, Hurricane Katrina? Yes! We got through.
What is our job now to help our fellow citizens, family, and friends?
PRAY!!!! And, STAY HOME!
So, I have included a few comforts below that I/we are enjoying while staying home.
Delivery Services
Shipt– Groceries delivered right to the front door without any contact.
I use this also when we go on vacation. They will deliver to whatever address you would like. Hayley used it recently when she was without a car. They delivered right to her apartment. You could also buy and have groceries delivered to a friend!
It costs $99 annually, but you get a free, one-time trial. And, to me, the cost is worth it, averaging $8.25 a month.
Butcher Box-Organic meats delivered to our door.
Sea To Table-Sustainable seafood delivered to our door.
Books
I started reading this for my personal Lenten journey, but means much more in today’s crisis.
-Amazon
(Pulitzer Prize Winner)
Wow! This book is long, but achingly good. You just feel for this character, Theo, and all that he goes through.
Online Workouts
Most of these have an annual/monthly fee, but they have pretty good free trials of which I am taking advantage. I am just putting an alert on my calendar on my phone to cancel before the credit card is charged.
Comfortable Clothes
This bralette by Jockey is my go-to for comfort! It comes in 6 colors, too!
Other
Puzzles, Magazines, Bulk cooking-and-freezing, Baking bread and other delicacies, Writing letters to friends and families
So, let us all enjoy the simple joys of life again as we pray and stay home with our families, knowing that with God’s help we will survive this!
Toodle-oo,
Melanie
P.S. Share with us your simple pleasures you are using to get through!
HNOTD: Businesses are Giving Away Their Toilet Paper to People in Need
Awesome! Read this in one of my devotionals this morning, “Something incredible happens when fear and anxiety are replaced by acts of kindness and compassion. ” Being a 72 year old senior citizen I have been the recipient of this kindness and compassion. So many younger relatives and friends have or have offered to pick up what I need from the store. God bless all of them.

Mom,
Yes!!!! I agree with that entirely. Our society can be so much stronger together through small acts of kindness like you have been receiving.
You are also very blessed to have those special people there to help you, too!<3
