The Handwritten Note

With today’s convenience of texting and emailing, I find the handwritten note is a lost art.  Even though it is old-school, I think it means more than most think.

Not only are you writing with your own personal, individual handwriting, which is unique in itself; but, you are taking the time out of your day to write the note, address the note, find/buy a stamp for the note, and mail the note.

This, to me, shows you really care for the recipient enough to take the time out of your busy schedule.

A few months ago, at my grandmother’s funeral, it was said to me multiple times from multiple people, how many handwritten notes she had written had touched their lives.

She would send notes of encouragement, thanks, sympathy, prayers, love, and sometimes, just because.

This really stuck with me and made me want to be better about writing more notes.

Sometimes, it is hard to find the words and way to say what you want to say in the right way.  Here are some quick rules of thumb:

1. Thank you notes

2. Appreciation note

3. Condolence note

4. Encouragement note

It is important to have nice stationery on hand, stamps and a blue/black ink pen.

I found for you some fun personalized stationery if you are in the market.
