What I’m Loving Lately

fullsizeoutput_3dfcfullsizeoutput_3dfe.jpegI am loving Spring most of all, ya’ll!  I don’t know about you, but I thought is would never get here.  I am so ready to plant some bright new flowers in the yard and enjoy all the pretty weather, grilling on the patio, of course while listening to some Van Morrison.

But, I thought I would share some other things I am loving lately, too.

How about this cute handbag from Walmart (above)? If you haven’t looked lately Walmart has been a game changer in the fashion department lately.  Check out their latest Spring styles!


Elements of Family Style-I have Erin Gates first book, which is wonderful.  But, this edition focuses on beautiful home design but heavy on practicality and function.  I love how she helps you choose what to splurge and not to splurge on when it comes to decorating your home.fullsizeoutput_3df6.jpegfullsizeoutput_3df7.jpeg

Sicker, Fatter, Poorer-This book was an eye-opener.  It shared scientific research on many commonly-found, household chemicals and how they are affecting our society.  It went on to tell us how to avoid these chemicals, and as consumers, change the way these chemicals are used.fullsizeoutput_3dfa.jpeg

A Day in December-This is an English rom-com at its best.  It starts out with Laurie finding the man of her dreams from the window of a bus.  She and her roommate search for him for over and year.  But, when her roommate brings home her new love, the search is over!

EL James new book The Mister-If you know me at all, I am a HUGE Fifty Shades fan!  I read and re-read the trilogy too many times.  So, when E.L. James latest book came out, I had to pre-order it to get my hands on it.  I just received it today and can’t wait for her next venture!


Food Therapist-This book helps us deal with all those food hang-ups we have.  Then gives solid advice for addressing them.  One of my favorite tricks she advises is to never open a bag of a snack and just start eating.  She says most people will sit and consume the contents of the bag or most of it!  She recommends always measuring out the snack and putting on a small plate.  When you are done, you are done!


The Things We Could Not Say-So I am reading this as of late. I have not quite finished. It is a story that goes back between two characters:  one, a mother of an autistic son in present-day Florida, and one, a young lady in love in war-ravaged Poland, living in a refugee camp. Somehow I think the stories will intertwine and all will be revealed.  All I can say, I can’t put it down!

This is based on a girl raised in the woods of a forest by her ex-CIA father and chased by an off-CIA agent.  It is high-suspense and thrilling watching her evade this enemy.

Salt Fat Acid Heat

If you saw my last “What I’m Loving Lately,”  you saw I bought the gorgeous book Salt, Fat, Acid, Heat. This show is divided into each of these four basic cooking essentials.  It takes you from Italy to Japan and leaves you hungry and ready for travel.

The Highway Men

Filmed in Louisiana, mostly Shreveport, Kevin Costner and Woody Harrelson star in a true-to-life drama based on the Texas Rangers that caught Bonnie and Clyde in the end.

The Mule

Produced by Clint Eastwood and inspired by a true story, Clint Eastwood plays a father, grandfather and husband that did not spend time with his family, but chose to his daylily business instead. But toward the end of his life, when his family wants to disown him, he tries to buy their time back through money earned illegally.  It also stars Bradley Cooper.



gluten-free pasta-Hayley and I recently found this GF pasta at Whole Foods in the refrigerated section.  I have yet to find a GF pasta that tastes like real pasta.  Well, search no more.  This was delicious with the perfect texture.  We served it over spinach, red bell pepper, and asparagus with a garlic-olive oil sauce and Parmesan.

I love all the different flavors they have to offer.  I can’t wait to try all of them!

Aquafaba Mayo -This is my latest homemade mayo I am loving lately.  I add herbs and garlic to make it more ranch-like.  Or, I add cumin and lime to make it more Mexican-flavored.  Or, I just add to my Lenten -Friday tuna fish with celery and shallot for a yummy lunch!

Morton Kosher Salt -After reading Shaya and Salt, Fat, Acid, Heat, I have taken their recommendations and have switched to kosher salt for my everyday salt.
